Distribution
Common and widespread in India including Andaman and Nicobar islands, Bangladesh, China, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan.
Vector
It is a vector of Surra, Trypanosoma evansi and buffalo sickness, Pasteurella multocida (Nieschulz & Ponto, 1927; Nieschulz & Kraneveld, 1929)
Diagnosis
Scape and pedicel longer than flagellomeres, face convex, broad and quadrate frontal callus, well developed ocelli. Wing with bare basicosta, hyaline with broad costal band and longitudinal broad band through middle of the wing with hyaline indentation. Abdomen yellow with inverted U-shaped mark usually extending up to 4th abdominal segments.
